12 - Anthony Hamilton - Magnolia's Room
13 - Eric Roberson - Pretty Girl
14 - Mica Paris - Sixth Street

The Markus Enochson track with James Ingram entitled Day And Night from the CD Night Games is a nice surprise that I never expected. Adriana's Hey Now is one of the tracks of the awesome El Camino release which I consider one wonderful CD, definitely on par with her other two releases. Blue Six's cut from Aquarian Angel, You Just Can't Stop with Lisa Shaw's vocals, is heavenly, leading into Sa-Ra Creative Partner's So Special, lit up by Rozzi Daime, from their release The Hollywood Recordings.

Donald McCollum's track No Matter What I'll Do is excellent, as is Nate James' Funkdefining from Kingdom Falls. Much to my delight, DJ Jazzy Jeff teams up with Raheem Devaughn for My Soul Ain't For Sale which is excellent. On top of that Joe teams up Fabolous on his CD Ain't Nothin' Like Me to serve up Let's Just Do It. I've gotta admit that the track is definitely a head-nodder for me that I did not expect.

Lathun's cut with India.Arie entitled When Love Came In is a solid track, which leads up to Macy Gray's What I Gotta Do from her release Big. Lily Allen's Alright, Still serves up Friend Of Mine, leading into Anthony Hamilton's Magnolia's Room from his great CD Southern Comfort. Eric Roberson's Pretty Girl from ...Left leads us into Mica Paris' Sixth Street, a cut located on both her Black Angel CD as well as Soul Desirables.

Take it light.

I've recovered from the stomach madness - thanks for bearing with me. My apologies!

01 - Side Effect - Always There
02 - Dexter Wansel - Life On Mars
03 - D-Influence - Sweetest Things
04 - Guru feat. Ronny Jordan - No Time To Play
05 - US3 - Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)
06 - Jhelisa - Whirl Keeps Turning
07 - Carleen Anderson - Welcome to Changes / Ian's Groove Conclusion
08 - Repercussions - Test Of Time
09 - Incognito - All That You Want Me To Be
10 - Down To The Bone - Long Way From Brooklyn
11 - Najee - Knocks Me Off My Feet
12 - Izit - Don't Give Up Now
13 - Ronny Jordan - After Hours
14 - Ramsey Lewis - Love For A Day

I'm sure you know quite a few of these tunes. The ones that I heard prominently on the radio are Side Effect's Always There and US3's Cantaloop. Dexter Wansel's Life On Mars was played for me during one of my trips to Philadelphia back in the 80s, and D-Influence's Sweetest Things was played repeatedly when I had Good 4 We in the deck.

Jhelisa and her cousin Carleen are two of my favorite female singers, while Repercussion's track from Earth and Heaven is one of my favorite ones off the CD. Incognito and Down To The Bone lead way to Najee's foray into acid jazz, which segues into one of my favorite Izit tracks. We then mellow out with Ronnie and Ramsey.

My apologies for the wait - hope you enjoy.

01 - Brand New Heavies - Dream On Dreamer
02 - Young Disciples - Apparently Nothin'
03 - Izit - Izit Everywhere Part 2
04 - Soul Family Sensation - I Don't Even Know If I Should Call You Baby
05 - D-Influence - Journey
06 - Repercussions - Turn Your Card
07 - Light of the World - London Town
08 - Incognito - I Love What You Do For Me
09 - Galliano - Welcome to the Story
10 - Digable Planets - Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)
11 - Groove Collective - Everybody (We the People)
12 - Donald Byrd - Love Has Come Around
13 - Swing Out Sister - Ordinary People
14 - Bobbi Humphrey - Harlem River Drive

The two groups The Brand New Heavies (with N'Dea Davenport) and The Young Disciples (featuring vocals by Carleen Anderson) start off this set, followed by the duo Izit with Izit Everywhere. Soul Family Sensation's wonderful track I Don't Even Know If I Should Call You Baby leads up to one of my all-time favorite groups from England, D-Influence, with Journey.

A wonderful track from Repercussion's Earth And Heaven follows, entitled Turn Your Card. Light Of The World, the precursor to the group Incognito, follow with London Town. Since Light Of The World is in this mix, it stands to reason that they are followed up by Incognito's I Love What You Do For Me.

Galliano's Welcome To The Story and Digable Planet's well known track Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like That) is followed by Groove Collective's Everybody (We The People). One of my favorite tracks from Donald Byrd, Love Has Come Around is followed by Swing Out Sister's underrated Ordinary People and the entire set is capped off with the incomparable flautist Bobbi Humphrey's Harlem River Drive.

This time I don't have my voice included due time constraints and recording issues. I hope to fix these issues for the next 'cast. Hope you enjoy. Special shoutouts go to J. Brotherlove, Mr. Fresh, and Chica for pushin' it on through. Enjoy.

Spring is almost here and I've been extremely lazy, so I had to put NJS on hold this week. Not to worry though. I'm sure you'll like:

01 - Colors - Am I Gonna Be The One
02 - Unlimited Touch - Searching To Find The One
03 - Change - Searching (LP Version)
04 - Lisa Stansfield - Live Together
05 - Teena Marie - 365
06 - Alexander O'Neal - You Were Meant to Be My Lady (Not My Girl)
07 - Oleta Adams - Rhythm of life
08 - Minnie Riperton - Perfect Angel
09 - Incognito - Change
10 - Quincy Jones - If I Ever Lose This Heaven
11 - Stevie Wonder - You've Got It Bad Girl
12 - Maze Feat. Frankie Beverly - Never Let You Down
13 - Anita Baker - Sometimes

The track Am I Gonna Be The One is a great tune for me, from the group Changes which didn't have many releases. I'm sure you're familiar with Unlimited Touch, Change, and Lisa Stansfield's cuts, which are the staple of the definition 'old school soul.' Teena's wonderful track 365 is from It Must Be Magic, while Alex's track is from his Alexander O'Neal LP.

After those tracks, I have the triple female threat for you: Oleta, Minnie, and Incognito (with vocals by Maysa). Then there's the triple male threat: Quincy Jones (with vocals by Minnie) follows, with Stevie Wonder and Maze. Anita Baker's Sometimes finishes up the mix with it's understated groove.

Hope you enjoy these grooves. Take it light.
